Overview
The 3Dlabs Wildcat II 5110 graphics controller, one of the industry’s
most powerful professional graphics accelerators is the Compaq solution
for high-end 3D graphics professionals. The new Wildcat II 5110 features
high-speed, 2D acceleration and high-speed, full-featured 3D
acceleration. Geometry and rasterization acceleration are provided on an
AGP-Pro50 card that occupies an AGP-Pro slot plus one PCI slot. The
AGP-Pro50 dual pipeline architecture of the Wildcat II is not suitable
for plugging into a standard AGP slot. The Wildcat II 5110 includes two
next-generation, programmable geometry ASICs and two rasterization ASICs.
Scaleable architecture allows for multi-pipeline configurations.
Performance
The Wildcat II 5110 delivers more than twice the performance of the
Wildcat 4110 at a comparable price. Hardware-accelerated features of the
Wildcat II 5110 dual pipeline architecture include:
AGP Pro50 - AGP 4X
64-MB geometry acceleration frame buffer
15 million (m) maximum 3D triangles per second (tri/sec)
332 m maximum pixels per second (pixels/sec) peak trilinear texture fill
3D Gouraud-shaded triangles, Z-buffered; 15.1 m maximum tri/sec
3D Gouraud-shaded triangles, Z-buffered; trilinear texture at a maximum
rate of 9.7 m tri/sec
3D vectors, solid-color, 10-pixel; 24.2 m maximum vectors per second (vec/sec)

Note: The above table shows the highest
resolutions supported for the Wildcat II dual pipeline when it is
configured in single display mode (64-MB frame buffer). Resolutions
higher than 1600 x 1200 are supported only for analog CRT monitors.
Digital Flat Panel (DFP) monitor support is limited to 162 m pix/sec,
equivalent to a maximum DFP resolution of 1600 x 1200 at 60 Hz
